The valley of Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed a major political dram on 19th June, 2018. This was the surprise resignation of the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti; which she tendered to the J&K State Governor Mr. N. Vohra. This was an aftermath of BJP’s withdrawal of support from People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. The unexpected crack occurred in this coalition because of the differences in between the centre and PDP after centre’s decision to end the Ramzan Ceasefire. These developments aroused as a result to BJP President Amit Shah’s summon to the legislators and state leaders to Delhi for urgent talks. The outcome of this meeting was briefed to the media personnel in the conference hall after the completion of the discussion. As per the sources, the alliance had been battling for a break up for over six months before BJP decided to pull the plug of support from its end.
Now, here are some reasons which are responsible for BJP’s Withdrawal Of Support from People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which resulted in the fall of J&K Government.
As per the statements of BJP leader Ram Madhav at a press conference, the centre extended full support to the valley and its issues. He also professed that the government was completely embarrassed out of Mehboob’s reaction towards post non-extension of Ramzan ceasefire. He added to it by saying that, “PDP has not been successful in fulfilling its promises. Our leaders have been facing lots of problems and difficulties from PDP’s end while executing developmental works in Jammu and Ladakh”.
The valley of Jammu & Kashmir was constantly suffering from consecutive terror activities and infiltrations which claimed high troll of lives. The BJP alleged Mehbooba that the rise in terrorism went beyond control in the valley during her rule. The murder of the senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari was a great question mark on the rights of the citizens and their security. It was also observed that the rights of the people of the valley were getting compromised.
The rise in military coupled with speeches made by radical leaders led to the bewilderment of the youth in Jammu & Kashmir. From these youth joining militant organizations, ranks to the provocative speeches by several radical outfits in the valley. The disturbance in the valley has only deepened its mark. BJP leader Ram Madhav reacted on this picture of the valley and said – “Terrorism, violence and radicalization have risen and fundamental rights of the citizens are under danger in the valley”.
The murder of the veteran journalist and the editor-in-chief of Rising Kashmir, Shujaat Bukhari; was the last straw or the last link in the coalition battle of BJP and PDP. Even though, the BJP took necessary measures to improve the security situation in Jammu & Kashmir. But, in a statement to press; BJP leader Ram Madhav expressed that the erstwhile Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir. Mehbooba Mufti was responsible for the poet worsening of the security situation in the valley.
The erstwhile Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti proposed a dialogue with the separatists when the centre announced the Ramzan Ceasefire in order to find a political solution to the ongoing “bloodshed” in the valley of Jammu & Kashmir.
If we conclude this discussion as per our findings in the previous points, we cannot state that it was all due to the approach of Mehbooba Mufti of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) or the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders; rather we can state that there are many reasons responsible for BJP’s Withdrawal Of Support from People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Somewhere or the other, it has been an aftermath of highly intensified miscommunication and misperception. Now, the question is, how is this move of BJP is going to affect its preparations and results of the upcoming General Elections of 2019. BJP’s Withdrawal Of Support from People’s Democratic Party
